Police and paramedics were sent to the scene

Police and paramedics were called to a city centre street where the body of a man had been found. Police are not treating the Hanley tragedy as suspicious.

Emergency services had been spotted around the Well Street and Waterloo Street junction. The alarm had been raised at around 8.45pm on Friday (June 5).

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We were called to an address in Hanley following reports of a sudden death. Officers went to the scene alongside paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service. Sadly, the body of a man was found. His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for HM Coroner."
